The enjoyment of scent is a universal love language, with new brands and releases continuously feeding this desire. As the industry grows so too do the creative perspectives informing it, be they from a different nationality or a new take on scent creation. From the first Kazakh fragrance house to deep and dark creations from Thailand, BeautyMatter rounds up the perfume houses on our radar.BDK ParfumsFounder: David Benedek Country of origin: France Since its founding in 2016, BDK Parfums has quickly built a name for itself as fragrance house building contemporary classics like Gris Charnel (a spicy woody scent with fig, black tea, and bourbon vetiver) and Pas Ce Soir (a white floral with quince, jasmine, and cashmeran), which won the Perfume Extraordinaire of the Year award at the 2023 Fragrance Foundation Awards. A modern twist on French perfumery is its core value. Aside from its own standalone online shelves, it has also found a home at prestigious retailers like Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, and Harrods. This year marked the opening of the brand’s first flagship store on Paris’s prestigious Rue Saint-Honoré, commemorated with a perfume launch named after the address: 312 Saint-Honoré, inspired by the materials like concrete, white burgundy stone, and glass used to build it. The result is an amber floral scent with mineral qualities, containing notes like pink pepper, iris, orange blossom, Ambrostar, and Thailand oud. The brand’s offerings are launched under four distinctive collections: Collection Parisienne, Collection Matières, Collection Azur, and Collection Exclusive.
